2 Days to Go and STILL not packed

June 19, 2008

Here is the dilemma.  You need a tent, a sleeping bag, some type of sleeping pad, a bike, a helmet, a mirror, some clothes, bike shoes, and anything else that weighs less than or equal to 70 lbs.  Are you KIDDING ME?  What woman goes for a 7 week vacation with LESS THAN 70 lbs of stuff?

My MAKEUP weighs almost 10 lbs!

I am SCREWED!

And the packing HORROR is currently on display on my living room floor!  Yes, my living room decor now looks like the woman’s dressing room at Macy’s.  Lots of tried it on but can I stand to wear it for at least 20 days, not so sure pile, ALONG WITH with I tried it on, it’s kind of SNUG, BUT it’ll fit me in 20 days PILE, followed by, I tried it , it fits, I’d love to wear it every day of my life pile.

I LIED, there is NO pile like this.

So, like I said, I’m SCREWED!

Who knew that I would go from focusing on cycling to get IN SHAPE, to LOOKING at MY BODY in the mirror wishing my NOT SO In-shape body looked MORE In-shape?  Who knew that I would NOW be worried what the other cyclists will think of my fashion sense?  WHO KNEW that I could be SUCH a moron?

Fortunately for me, there are others in my life that are helping me regain my focus.  Jack has been a godsend – he keeps me honest, he challenges me when I give up, AND he PROMISES that if something bad happens to me he’ll clean my house before my parents show up.  That’s the kind of friend he is - HE has his PRIORITIES!

My friend Karen and John’s sons will be cutting my grass and watering my house plants so that if something bad happens, there will be healthy greenery inside and outside, so the place looks nice,  before my parents show up.

My next door neighbors Marianne and Bruce will keep an eye out for me.  They proved it tonight when they saw the garage door open, my car in the garage, and they thought I was on my BRAA journey.  They called the house, I answered and we reconfirmed the dates.  Thank GOD I have such good neighbors.

Finally my great friends and ex next door neighbors Kim and Neal will probably stop by just to make sure that everything is A-OK.  I am SO blessed to have such good friends.

I take off this Saturday morning, with my 70 lbs. of gear (with the extra 20 Ibs. I’ll be sure to carry on the plane),  a heart full of anticipation, and an eagerness to get started on this journey – and what a journey it will be!
